Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art let me loose in their store today and, with great satisfaction, I filled it with bundles of cotton and grasses and logs from the farm. And because I got totally overexcited and brought a whole trailer of cotton to the big smoke, which was far more than I needed, the extra cotton has been bunched into presents for anyone who buys my book A Tree in the House from the GOMA store.
.
Now for a nap before @locallovely ‘s book party at Wild Canary tonight ... if you want to come there might still be tickets, just give @wildcanaryeat a buzz.
.
Brisbane, you are putting on a great show this weekend. I’ve already gone nuts at the @leemathewsau jumble sale, had a delicious dinner @citywinerybne and lunch @juliuspizzeria . And the weekend hasn’t even begun yet. 💃

Sometimes I wish I could submit written answers to everything in life. The pace of real time talking often feels a little too fast. I say things that I don’t quite mean, or things I don’t even mean at all. As such, I have found it much easier to write my book than talk about it.
.
I’ve got a couple of long podcast interviews coming up and, after bombing in one (thank you to @litupshow for letting me re-record) I thought I better sort this problem out. If @therealdeal_photography could help me relax enough to take a decent photo (proof here. Pip, bravo, no small feat) perhaps there is someone out there who could help me talk out loud about the book and myself without descending into a Karl Ove shame spiral.
.
There is. Meet Andrea Clarke @careerceo ... she mainly helps CEO types communicate better and she’s just published a book called Future Fit about how to stay relevant in the workforce, but let me tell you she worked wonders on me despite the fact I am whatever the opposite of corporate is.
.
I had a four hour session with her in Sydney. She forced me (in a good, bossy way) to organise my thoughts and answer questions with beginnings and endings while Rich the camera man recorded everything. It was excruciating at the beginning. Like a cross fit class. And then, by the end, not so bad. While I’m certainly not about to anchor my own talk show, I do feel much more comfortable about the whole process now. If you need to sort yourself out to be able to clearly talk about something that is important to you, Andrea is your woman.
.
Thank you to @philhux for the intro. .

My mum has, in the midst of catching up with her beloved grandchildren, got on top of ALL my laundry, she’s brought some order to the linen cupboard and she’s tackled the miscellaneous single sock pile that would silently scream things like “you are pathetic” at me whenever I caught a glimpse of it.
.
If mum wasn’t already sick to death of hearing about my book, I would give her one for Mother’s Day to say thank you for all of this and more. I must think of something else, but hopefully you don’t!
.
Get a copy for your mother or motherly friend via the link in my profile or at all good book stores. It’s for all the people it there who think that simple, natural beauty is worth striving for.

“Mum can you please go?”
.
The children are flying the coop, off on parentless camping adventures and trail rides and whatever else they do when I can’t see them. (They can definitely ride a motorbike and drive the manual ute better than me now). The march towards independence is beautiful.
